NORA is a very unique organization because of its multidisciplinary structure. You might be interested to know that the NORA board has representation in the following areas, occupational therapy, vision therapy, blind vision rehabilitation and optometry. Our clinical skills building faculty is represented by occupational therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic and optometry. We encourage rehabilitation professionals from all disciplines to join NORA.
The core concept of NORA is that true neuro vision rehabilitation is much more obtainable when there is collaboration among a variety of disciplines. We have a great opportunity to learn from each other and to understand what the various disciplines can bring to the table. Vision rehabilitation is often left out of equation in many rehabilitation models. Our quest is to bring neuro optometric rehabilitation into the forefront. Optometrists need to be included on the rehabilitation team and optometric consultation should be available in rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient programs.
As the current president of NORA, I look forward to continuing the process of building new relationships. Please spread the word and support NORA.
We are celebrating our 20th year as an organization. Our annual conference is in April of each year and it is a great time to network with colleagues and friends. Our conference will be in Atlanta, GA, April 7-10, 2011.
Let’s work together to make NORA the best that it can be.
